En la semana santa de 1976, Stiv Bators se trasladó a Nueva York, invitado por Johnny Thunders, que en esa época se encontraba plenamente involucrado en The Heartbreakers después de haber abandonado New York Dolls. Seducido por el ambiente de Nueva York, Stiv animó al resto de sus compañeros de Frankenstein a mudarse a la ciudad. El grupo se refundó en 1976 con el nombre de Dead Boys. En el año 1988 editaron el single Search and destroy.
